Child Protection Services
The Children’s Act 38 of 2005 aimed at the support, protection and wellbeing of all children under the age of 18 form the basis of all our Social Work activities, interventions and child protection services. All reported incidents of physical or mental neglect; physically, emotionally or sexually abuse; abandonment; behavioural problems that cannot be controlled by a child’s care giver; ill-treatment or harmful living conditions are investigated by our Social Workers.
 

Area of operation:
Mangaung Metro: Head offices at 54 Aliwal Street. Satellite offices: c/o Parish & Murison Avenue Heidedal & at the back of Manguang SAPS station in Namibia Square.

Child Protection Week:

Child Protection is everybody’s business. Support Child Protection week with us by wearing a green ribbon and get involved in protecting our children. 16 Days of activism against Violence:

Wear a white awareness ribbon as you join the rest of the country from 25 November - 10 December in standing together against violence towards women and children. We need to encourage victims to speak up, report abuse and END it! Make your own white ribbons. Involve your colleagues, friends and family and make sure everyone wears it for the full 16 days.

We Co-ordinate placements and weekly activities of all children placed in Temporary Safe Care in Talitha Cumi & El Pizo Child and Youth Care Centres - Temporary Care Centre

We render trauma debriefing, counselling & support services to child victims of sexual abuse, rape and physical abuse at teh Tshepong Thuthuzela Care Centre.

24/7 Crisis Intervention Services

24/7 Crisis Intervention Services
All incoming calls on the toll-free emergency line are screened and assessed to determine the need for immediate social work assistance.
 
Area of Operation:
Our toll free line service is for the Free State Province and social work services only for Mangaung Metro.

HIV/OVC Services

HIV/OVC Services
We provide care, counselling, grief groups, HIV prevention and support services to orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC), families and communities affected by HIV and AIDS. 
 
Area of Operation:
Free State with focus of the Motheo – Mangaung Metro, Thabo Mofutsanyane – Ficksburg, Clocolan, Marquard, Fezile Dabi – Vredefort,  Lejweleputswa - Matjhabeng (Henneman; Virginia; Ventersburg, Masilonyana (Brandford; Winburg; Theunissen), Dihlabeng – (Rosendal, Fouriesburg).
The services includes:

  • Grief support groups
  • After school care & ISIBINDI Safe Parks
  • ISIBINDI – Community-based HIV support services

Early Childhood Development centres

Early Childhood Development centres

Through training and assessment, we establish the care needed for the children in Early Childhood Development Centres. We support families and friends to report abuse.

Our Interventions include:

  • Provision of Early Childhood Development Programmes for the physical / emotional / social and intellectual development of children under the age of 6 years in a partial care facility.
  • Administer and manage the partial care facility.
  • Provision of meals and refreshments to the children in the facility.

Services to Early Childhood Development centres

Services to Early Childhood Development centres

Through training and assessment, we empower Matrons and Caregivers of Early Childhood Development Centres to comply with relevant legislation. We support Matrons to report abuse.

Our puppet theatre assists all ECD centres to educate and communicate with the children in their mother tongue on the following themes:
